Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) gives planes a push and helicopters a lift. From its half dozen Canadian facilities, the company manufactures fixed-wing and helicopter turbofan and turboprop engines for business, general aviation, military, regional, utility, and agricultural applications. P&WC also manufactures engines for industrial applications and provides maintenance and repair services. Taken together, P&WC and its US-based parent Pratt & Whitney, itself a subsidiary of United Technologies (UTC), are among the largest makers of jet engines in the world. P&WC has more than 45,000 engines in operation, and serves such customers as Air Methods, Aviall, AgustaWestland, and Dassault.

If you use a laptop or a wireless handset, you could be looking at AU Optronics (AUO). The company is a leading manufacturer of flat-panel displays. TFT-LCD (thin-film transistor liquid-crystal display) panels provide a clear, sharp image -- even in poor lighting -- and are used in car navigation systems, digital still cameras, laptop and notebook computers, television sets, and wireless phones. AUO sells to contract manufacturers, such as Compal, and to OEMs, including Acer, Audiovox, Panasonic, and Sony. The company sells primarily to customers in Asia; 70% of sales goes to customers in China and Taiwan. AU Optronics was formed by the merger of Acer Display Technology and Unipac Optoelectronics.

TES, founded in 1999, are MEICA experts specialising in the Water and Wastewater treatment sector. Following exceptional growth and investment in operations, TES established itself as a leading company within the industries it serves in the UK and Ireland. TES are continuing to expand internationally with notable success in areas including North Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Australia. The company now has a turnover in excess of £12m. In recent years TES has invested heavily in the company’s infrastructure to deal with increased demand in the company’s products and services. TES now provides full MEICA services, from process design, project management and installation from purpose built manufacturing and office facilities in N. Ireland with further mirrored satellite facilities in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle Upon Tyne.
