What does a Vice President - Technology do?

Technology managers coordinate information systems in locations including companies, government agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations. They ensure the organization’s computer hardware, software, and database management systems, internet servers, and telecommunication services are working properly. They coordinate and configure the systems to ensure they are performing at optimal speed.

Technology managers meet with management teams to discuss how information technology will help the organization achieve its latest goals, and they train end-users on operating software and databases. Technology managers have a bachelor’s degree in technology management, computer science, management information systems, or information technology. Some technology managers also have technology certification for their specific industry, including financial management. Some have completed the management of technology certificate or relevant degree programs through a college or a university.
