Do other Big 4 actually give negative performance reviews? Or is it all sugar coated like EY

I wouldn’t say negative review, but I do point out areas of improvement.
Like “you have clear strength in X, Y, and Z. For areas of improvement, I think if you were to do A, B, and C it would help you become more well-rounded and set you up for progression etc etc”
If the person had clear performance issues, there should’ve been multiple communications with the individual (live feedback) and if there was no improvement after that, the ‘negative review’ shouldn’t be a surprise to the individual - but I’ve never encountered this. Ppl usually improve

Depends on the manager. Unfortunately I have an SM who gives extremely negative reviews and nitpicks to justify it

Same here. It really killed my self esteem 😔 good news though, I switched firms and my new managers tell me that I’m killing it, so it was clearly just my old manager. However, the repeated negative reviews gave me lots of anxiety and imposter syndrome, which I’m still trying to shake.

I gave a bad one to an associate last year. He’s no longer at the firm (PwC)
My firm has us under a PTO freeze through September. Says the workload is too heavy and no PTO requests during this time will be honored. We can't even put in vacation requests until this freeze ends. How is this legal?
Thoughts on romantic relationships at work? Does your firm have a policy on this? We can't help who we are attracted to, develop feelings for, etc. And, yes I've been involved with my boss on and off for almost 10 years. Some suspect us, but we've kept it to ourselves. Don't beat me up too badly.
