Pros
I have gained some great friends working here at ARTSY.
Cons
I encountered one of the rudest and unprofessional experiences here at ARTSY. My friends who hear my stories are appalled at what I went through and to this day, I get disappointed. First of all,... ARTSY and management lack empathy. They do not care about you and your well being. There is developing finger pointing behavior but when it comes to management and their negligence, they turn the other side. When a problem arise, it is your problem. Pay is also extremely low and they ensure you get the smallest raise with terrible excuses. Lack of transparency. Lastly, some managers are amazing and are always looking out for their team, but mine was definitely not this type. Constant gaslighting, retaliating behavior, bullying, insecurity, and lieing. This manager of mine made me cry several times after work, and changed my entire personality. I am now skeptical and no longer bubbly as I used to be.
Pros
Glitzy branding, early market entry
Cons
This company under compensates by 20-30k for every role. They have the lead on the tracking tech for all art auctions, so they hire people with very necessary and specific skillsets which aren't... hireable most other places (aside from comps) and then dump 2-3x work on them. It's a pity they undervalue every department aside from upper management, and more a pity everyone tolerates it for the brand name. European colleagues are paid exactly the same but with health insurance and benefits that are compensated by the state, while American colleagues get the short stick (and are told to be grateful) because they are located in the US but work for a "European company with European values ". So much hot air blown up as*es without any substance. Zero room for growth, only "performance based raises" which are for goody two shoes working overtime without fair compensation. Those who get raises remain in a 4% raise now known as "salary bands" which is another name for inflation adjustment, but marketed as a productivity panic.
