What is health insurance like at Marex?

Pros

Decent corporate health insurance and decent amount of annual leave

Cons

1.Management will overpromise and paint a beautiful picture of how there isn't enough brokers to cover clients and there will be fair client distribution. BUT, when you join you will then be asked to find your own clients. They hold on to their clients like hounds, even when clearly they cant cover all of them well and the clients clearly needs to be redistributed to other people on the desk. 2.Some desks are severely understaffed and they make newcomers do 2-3 times their workload, some people are doing 11-12 hours shift and are force to lunch in. You are hired for one thing but end up doing 2 or 3 diff roles with no added compensation. 3.HR is situated in London, there is no HR in Singapore and this does not help at all. Hr is severely out of touched with Singapore working environment. 4.it is a toxic environment to work in. Alot of disrespect shown to the operations/IT here. Sentences like, this trader likes asian young women, this guy likes Caucasian women, So and so should cover him. Is quite disturbing to hear. 5. Extremely high turnover rate. In merely five months, it has already hit double digits in the Sg office.

Advice to Management

This has got to be the most toxic environment ive worked in. Look around and people are constantly unhappy. I do not have any advice for the management. After so many negative reviews, appaling turnover rate in the past two years, and also an internal annonymous “independent” survey sent to all employees asking for feedback and review. Still.... Nothing concrete has been done yet.

How do employees feel about their professional development opportunities at Marex?

Pros

This is an organisation which is changing and growing rapidly. Because of this there are loads of projects to get involved in and opportunities for professional growth. Systems and processes are being updated and upgraded to keep pace with the expansion and there's tons going on to get stuck into. The company and industry are complicated enough to provide constant challenge and there is no shortage of things to learn. Sometimes you've got to put a shift in, but the work/life balance would be pretty good if you worked in the West End, let alone in financial services in the heart of the City. The social side of things is buzzy and vibrant - there are runs and football tournaments and all sorts of things to do away from the desk. Oh, and last but certainly not least, we've got an absolutely epic proper barista-style coffee machine so there's never any need to spend any of your hard-earned money in Starbucks!

Cons

As you'd expect with this sort of shop, people can be driven and focused and can get the grump now and again, but to be honest, that's exactly as expected.

Advice to Management

Fresh fruit deliveries would be good to wean us off the cake!

Because of this there are loads of projects to get involved in and opportunities for professional growth.
