What is working from home like at Ministry of Education Singapore?

Pros

Working with youths, be part of moulding their future, holidays each term even though not as much of it is as free as others would think.

Cons

No work life balance as we need to bring home work such as marking or planning for lessons. Students’ problems can also be brought home as well. Holidays are sometimes used for planning of work for next term/year as well.

Advice to Management

Make holidays real holidays for Teachers and students. Pay could be improved. Class sizes could be reduced formally instead of letting schools manage it informally.

No work life balance as we need to bring home work such as marking or planning for lessons.

How are flexible working hours at Ministry of Education Singapore?

Pros

Flexible hours, and the pay is quite ok compared to other jobs. Good colleagues too. Most of the schools have a reasonably good environment to work in.

Cons

Depending on the school, some of the school leaders may over load your timetable and flexi teachers are expected to cover a fulltime load . They don't pay any extra if the hours have exceeded and may even expect marking to be done over and above the hours stipulated in the contract.

Advice to Management

Be more considerate when assigning the timetable and extra lessons after school hours. Be mindful that marking time is taken away when extra lessons are conducted after school hours and don't expect flexi teachers to do the marking at home after school hours.

Flexible hours, and the pay is quite ok compared to other jobs.
