Constant stress. Not enough pay. They play favorites and the upper management will only promote their friends, so make sure you start brown nosing when you walk through the door.

Advice to Management

If I thought they’d take it, I would share some.

Pros

Relationship with pet parents. If a store is properly staffed with over achievers the store manager job is moderately easy. Room for advancement of above mentioned over achievers as there is a lot of turn over and new store openings.

Cons

The pay. Its hard to find the over achievers at the pay rate Petsense has. There's very little payroll hours. They roll out major things like POG changes or whole store price changes, but they were all wrong so we have to redo them . These surveys they push, they are 10 years to late. Most don't care about the survey thing any more. But the T.E.A.M score is part of the managers bonus. I think the CEO is great (Hal Lawton is the CEO of TSC. The CEO listed as Greg Sandfort is incorrect) but trickling down from him is a hot mess.

Advice to Management

More support at store level when corporate messes up. More payroll to achieve this WOW customer service you expect. Work out all the bugs BEFORE you launch new programs and/or changes to the store.

The CEO listed as Greg Sandfort is incorrect) but trickling down from him is a hot mess.

Pros

Connection between coworkers and customers over love of animals.

Cons

CEO /Top tier management Pay not adequate for experience Tolerate of harressemet Benefits terrible can't afford medical care due to insane deductible

Advice to Management

I am not surprised, after reviewing comments Petsense is still in same place. Most mention CEO and Upper management and Tractor Supply really needs to deep dive into behavioral issues creating hostile work environments on Petsense side. I am now happy with my current job, paid well, and the culture is love and inspiration. Petsense tried to break my spirt and who I am. I am so thankful my journey is going in right direction since leaving Petsense.
