Brought me into the office, assigned copy edit test, but didn't feel very respected by their interviewing editors. Believe they are looking for someone who isn't a big thinker and instead will do what the managing editor wants. Then they dropped off without much of a response, which also felt like a bad sign to their management style.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at 5280 Magazine in Jul 2019
Interview
I only had one over the phone interview. The entire thing lasted about ten minutes and was very basic. Mainly questions about my experience, my career aspirations, and whether I read the magazine.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at 5280 Magazine in May 2019
Interview
I applied online with my resume, cover letter, 3-5 work samples, and 5-7 story ideas. There were two edit tests and I had to write a short story related to the position I was applying for. After that, I had a video interview. The process was VERY drawn out and I had to email the hiring manager over six times to follow up because she NEVER followed up by the date she said she would. Then, in the middle of the process, I find out the job was reopened for "diversity" and was told it would be an even longer wait to see if I would be moving forward to get an interview with the next two people (grop interview) and the direct hiring manager (one-on-one) after that. No respect for my time. No follow up. VERY disorganized. Stay far away from this place folks.
