I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at AMD (Austin, TX) in Aug 2009
Interview
The interview process is allows the coops to talk to many different groups, both in an informal setting as well as follow-up technical interview with selected groups the next day.
Very good process and highly recommend. The informal setting allows co-ops and AMD engineers to mix and discuss what they do as well as try to land an interview for the next day.
The interviews the next day are approximate one 1-hour interview per group that is actually hiring.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1

Two technical phone rounds of half hour each followed by the offer. Interview was not that difficult. Mostly asked my projects and some open ended questions. Applied online and had a referral as well.

1 behavioral interview, just asked a few questions. Recruiter was really helpful throughout whole process. No technical interview for the role I got but I had previously had a technical interview for another role that didn't end up getting.
