The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Altria in Mar 2009
Interview
The first round interview was with two people. Very basic fit questions and one situational question were asked. The interviewers were very friendly. It was not a stressful interview at all. They did not ask any industry-specific questions.
The second round interview was very informal. You ride along with two managers to see what they do. During this time they ask basic questions to get to know you. It lasted about three hours and was very relaxing. They really want to make sure that you are interested in what you will be doing. It is a snapshot of the internship experience of the summer. After the interviews, there was a background check and drug test (urine test) required before I was able to start the internship.

Interview
Panel Phone Interview where the interview format was behavioral. Questions were framed as "think about a time when..." and the general framework for response would be SCAR (Situation, Challenge, Action, Result)/STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result)/SOAR (Situation, Obstacle/Objective, Action, Result).
Their interview process has a few rounds. The first is more of a get to know you and then it goes deeper into the job role. They ask questions about you past experience and also applicable questions for the upcoming job.
