      I interviewed at Chefables

      Interview

The first round was an hour long one-on-one interview. Afterwards, I was sent an assessment consisting of several tests. My camera was required to be on so I could be recorded for the employer. Next round was a panel interview with the previous interviewer and CEO. The CEO asked a lot of personal questions. One question was what the people in my life, such as my folks or partner, do for a living. She was very insistent with questions in regards to what my father does for a living, which company he works for, etc. She then tells me that the job will become full-time once the new-hire settles into their role. I personally did not have any qualms with this, however, I would like to note that the job was listed as part-time with no indication that this was only temporary. She asks whether I prefer remote jobs or in-person, to which I responded that I was seeking a remote position as it made my studies more manageable. She tells me that the job is almost fully remote, but that she would like me to come into the office as needed. Again, I was agreeable but I would like to note that the job was listed as fully remote. She points out that I was also in the bay area and asks for the particulars of where I live in my city. She tells me that I actually should be coming into the office and "I have better things to do then to scan 2 inches of paperwork so you can sit at home". She says that since they are in South San Francisco, the office is only 25 minutes away from me, or 35 if I leave at a bad time (I have made the trip countless times, it is 45-60 minutes). She tells me I can "just take the train and study on it" and that she has other employees who have done this. I did not hear back after the final interview.
