First, let me say I was an excellent candidate for this position: An honor student with a 3.70 GPA, and very outgoing. My "flaw" is I'm in my 50s..
Met Cisco reps at my school's job fair, and one of them recommended me for a second interview for an entry-level job.
At the second interview, I sat down with a nice lady for 30 minutes.
We got along very well, and I thought I had done a pretty good job: I was in a suit, relaxed, smiling, happy, friendly, and energetic.
I has recently gone to several "job search" workshops at my school's career center and got tips on interviewing (you should do this too).
When the interview was over, the interviewer told me "you did fabulous."
They never called me for the third of four interviews, and I am still mystified.
Possibilities: It's hard for an interviewer to tell her boss "your should hire this old guy for and entry-level job instead of a young person." Or, there is simply a lot of competition for jobs at Cisco.
TIPS FOR YOU:
Check out Cisco's website for interview tips.
The interviewer told me, “The better you do your job at Cisco, the more work you get.”
Good luck!
