      Junior Software Engineer Interview

      7 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DOOR3 (New York, NY)

      Interview

There was an initial phone screen followed by a take-home assessment that took me 3 days to complete. The internal recruiter told me she'd be in touch in about a week. I called 10 days after submitting my assessment wondering about my status and I get rudely brushed off. Then, I call ~11 days after that call only to be given a generic rejection about my code and an excuse about it being the holidays. No feedback or respect for a candidate's time. I even sent an email the day before the call to just inquire about my status and no response. It should not take them days to send a rejection that would take all about 10 seconds, nor should anyone be bothered by a candidate calling once a week to inquire about their status. I don't think they were ever planning to hire me. It's also strange that most of their job postings aren't listed on jobsites like LinkedIn or Indeed. It's almost like the job postings are just there for show and they'll just look for an excuse to say no to anyone. The job posting itself shows their ignorance, carelessness, and it's also quite cringey. They say they are looking for "inexperienced hackers" and people that can "already make stuff happen with a computer." Stay away from this company if you can.
