This organization is unprofessional, unethical and inhuman. I received an offer from this group after 8 interviews, including travel to 2 locations, one of which required an overnight stay at my own expense. After having met all these people and discussed in detail how I would perform the job, I was asked to submit a written business plan. This request seemed unethical to me given that a company would normally have to pay for such a service but I had no choice if I wanted to still be considered for the job. So I submitted my road map for how I would create the new initiative they were seeking to form. I was subsequently asked to provide a management plan on how I would lead and grow my team. My submissions were obviously successful since I was finally offered the job after a two month process.
The job offer included a requirement to be in an office about an hour and a half from my home for 2 days a week. This requirement had never been discussed prior to the offer, as the job had always been presented as being a remote position. I spoke to the hiring manager and said I was happy to comply with this but wanted to leave the requirement open to other solutions in the future. The offer was also less money than I was used to making but I was really excited about the mission and so was ok with the lesser money. However, in the spirit of negotiating, which is a common practice after receiving a job offer, I asked for an additional week vacation (they had offered me what entry level employees get) and also asked them to consider allowing me to work the 40 hours on a flexible schedule.
Instead of coming back to me with a compromise, or even saying no to my requests, they RESCINDED THE OFFER! They also refused to have any further discussion when I expressed my shock and dismay. I really wanted that job, but now can see it was a good miss. Now they have my work product for free, which was clearly good or they would not have offered me the job. They are reprehensible people. Any organization that proclaims to want to help people yet treats applicants the way they did is sure to fail. Beware.
