      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gartner (Stamford, CT) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I applied online and it took the recruiter a few weeks to inform me that she wants to talk with me for the initial screening. She was extremely slow in responding to emails, I understand her busy schedule. I provided her my availability and after a few days I followed up with her on the interview timings. Apparently, she is in the UK, and I am on the West Coast and said that she is only available to talk from 8 AM-9 AM because of the time difference, and finally we were scheduled to talk on Sept 20th. The day arrived and I did not receive a call from her, and after waiting for 20 mins, I dropped her an email to which she did not reply. Tried to follow up with her a few days later and no response yet. On Oct 1st, I received an email from the System saying that I am no longer considered for the role. Really frustrating.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (San Jose, CA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

There were a number of phone interviews with various people on the team who asked me technical questions about topics that I didn't claim to have expertise in and that were not relevant to the job that I was seeking. They took the tone of an interrogator. They replied to their own questions and explained their superior knowledge of the subject to me. It was demeaning, annoying and time wasting. Next they asked me to provide a detailed report on a topic where I had a lot of very direct expertise and that provided them with information that they might use in their consulting practice. I wrote a lengthy report based on my previous research. They didn't provide feedback on the report to me. Next they wanted me to come in and do a panel interview. I talked with the recruiter about pay and they were $100,000 below my current pay so I decided to terminate the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me many technical questions about what I would propose to solve problems for organizations involving computer networking. They were especially interested in what I knew about Cisco and VMware. They didn't seem so interested in learning about me and how i could do the job for them.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

The main part of the interview (assuming you get this far) is the panel review. It's not as daunting as everyone makes out. In the end it's a group of people asking you very simple questions. I had to learn this the hard way (after trial and error) in that it's not about demonstrating your IQ it's about demonstrating your EQ (Emotional Intelligence).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A lot of "give us an example of how you would handle this" or "what did you do when this scenario happened".
