I applied online and had a short call with a recruiter to schedule an interview.
This was followed by a panel interview via video conference with several other engineers and the hiring director. The director shortly described the role and then dropped from the interview. After that I was bombarded for an hour with questions quizzing me on obscure facts and stuff you would normally put in a trivia quiz or just google instead of memorizing. Things you would normally expect at a senior engineering level interview such as strategy, design, leadership were not discussed.
After the interview I sent an email to the recruiter withdrawing myself from consideration and providing my feedback.
I thought that would be the end of it but lo and behold, the recruiter shared my feedback with the whole team, which lead to one of the engineers emailing me and having a complete meltdown in my mailbox about how I was rude and how he regretted ever giving me the chance to interview with them.
Such unprofessional behaviour was a first for me and I hope it doesn't happen again.
