I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto in Jan 2025
Interview
They gave very good preparation interview notes and had very friendly interviewers. For the technical interview, the interviewer was more than willing to help me out when I got stuck and was very nice when answering any questions I had.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Gusto
Interview
5 round interview process
- OA
- phone screen
- 60 min technical
- 90 min work session
- 30 min behavioral
OA, phone screen, 60 min technical, and behavior all very pleasant experiences. Easy difficulty for technical and the interviewers were extremely friendly and communicative.
90 min work session was horrible. Think I got unlucky with a very bad interviewer. He was uncommunicative, camera off, passive responses, and asked extremely vague questions that he did not clarify when I asked clarifying questions. The experience was not at all as "collaborative" and "pair-progamming-esque" as advertised and I believe my rejection was because of this experience. I solved the technical question and we spent quite a bit of time discussing the code but our communication levels were off because he was simply unwilling to communicate. Made me feel awful.
Still think Gusto is an amazing company and a great place to work, just very frustrated with the behavior of my work session interviewer and felt that I might have gotten an offer if I had a better interviewer.
