I applied through university. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Insight Strategy Advisors (New York, NY) in Sept 2015
Interview
I met one of their consultants at a career fair and submitted an online resume. I then proceeded through a first round "fit" interview, then a second round interview where I had 48 hours to build a deck of 5 PowerPoint slides based on one of four healthcare consulting related topics given to me. After passing that round I had an ~60 min interview by phone that included a case as well as several behavioral questions. I was then invited for an in person interview in their NYC office where I interviewed with 2 consultants, 1 analyst, and a Vice President. The in office interview took ~4 hours with each interview lasting one hour. 1 of the interviews with a consultant included an informal case, and the Vice-President also asked a few informal case related questions, wanting to evaluate my thought process. After the in person interview I had a 30-45 minute interview over the phone with the CEO. Overall the entire process took about 8 weeks. During the interview process ISA repeatedly emphasized their culture and how fit was so important to their firm. I interviewed at several consulting firms, and every one said they emphasized culture, but the feel at ISA was very different than other firms. They are a small firm (~30 people total employees) and they really don't want to bring in people who they feel will cause friction or disrupt the collaborative spirit they have to worked hard to establish. There were a few negative reviews about ISA from several years before and I specifically asked employees about these negative reviews, whether or not they felt they were accurate, and what ISA had/has done to improve communication between senior management and their more junior team over the past several years. Everyone at the firm openly admitted that several years ago they didn't put as much emphasis on employee development and culture as they should have and they have worked hard to make improvements. Everything I saw and heard convinced me that this was the type of firm that I would love to work at.
Q: Sometimes we have projects where we have to directly reach out to physicians/providers or other KOL to get their opinion on market dynamics and new products coming to market. Describe to me how would you go about reaching out to these individuals?
Q: (During the in person interview at the ISA office) After you leave today, everyone who interviewed you, both in person and on the phone, will sit down and discuss whether or not we should hire you. What should I tell them?
I applied online. I interviewed at Insight Strategy Advisors (New York, NY) in Mar 2018
Interview
one fit phone interview, a slide assignment, and case interviews. a lot of work!!! to not be considered for candidacy. I would warn people. A lot of time waste. And company doesn’t feel the same need to put work into its value proposition as an employer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Insight Strategy Advisors (New York, NY)
Interview
I was contacted approximately one week after submitting my cover letter/resume and invited for a first round interview. The first round was 60 minutes over the phone with a consultant and involved primarily fit and background questions. I was contacted several days later and invited for a second-round phone interview. The second round was 60 minutes over the phone with a director and involved a mix of fit, background and informal case-style questions. The final round interview was in-person at the ISA office and took approximately 6 hours, during which time I met with analyst, consultant, VP and partner-level team members. The interview questions were a mix of fit and case-style questions (about 3 short cases).
The whole interview process took approximately three weeks.
