      Barista Interview

      12 Jun 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at It's A Grind in Apr 2011

      Interview

Pretty simple. You fill out an application, and during that your asked some questions such as "do you like coffee? along with the Citizenship, disability, and salary questions etc. For me it was easy, then after i got hired i watched a lot of people get turned down. Some were even given a run-a-round. It was hard watching people you knew who were not going to get a job. You could see the hope of chance glimmering in their eye, that look everyone has when they want something. Only to know the outcome of their fate was not a good feeling. Man, i even saw a lot of Gay and Lesbian people coming in trying to get in cause the atmosphere of the coffee store is portrayed to be diverse and unified at the same time. The owners on the other hand, didn't see it that way as they were from a Devoted Christian background. All though, i want to see the good in them, the thought of their decisions were possibly less than rational. It'd been fine if they turned that person down because they were unqualified; but turning them down and then telling me " i would never hire a person like THAT in my store" tells me a hell of a lot more about your judging methods.

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at It's A Grind (Keller, TX)

      Interview

The store was just opening up in Keller. I saw the AD in the paper and contacted the owner to set up an interview. It was very easy-going and relaxed, which I liked. I heard back from the owner shortly after that and came in for training with all the other new employees. It was fun and exciting. Learning the recipes was easy!

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at It's A Grind (Houston, TX) in Nov 2011

      Interview

The hiring and interviewing process was friendly and personable. The owner contacted me soon after receiving my resume and application , and we sat down for a brief and amicable conversation before he offered me the job. I also met with his wife, who worked alongside him to manage the coffee house.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me if I was a frequent patron of the coffee house, and what product I liked best.
