Interview

The interview process took about 2 weeks. It started with a recruiter following up to an application I sent. We had a few back and forth emails to schedule a virtual interview with a hiring manager. The usual recruiter call never happened, which was strange. The recruiter scheduled me for a date that was nowhere close to what we had agreed on and I was notified with short notice that the set date cannot be changed. The interview with the hiring manager was extremely disappointing and I was honestly surprised with the lack of professionalism from such a big company. The manager was an arrogant and rude person that continuously cut me off. 10 Minutes into the interview, he cut me off by saying that it's okay to say you don't know the answer (I never the answer, he never let me finish my sentences). Then proceeded to tell me that interviewers know when you are bluffing (I was honestly answering them to the best of my abilities, it was java based questions so I was comfortable in answering them). Needless to say, he gave his speech and then abruptly ended the call with no further explanation. I never heard back from them ever since and honestly have applied to any of their postings as this just reflects how poorly the company/department must operate. Truly disappointed in Chase

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Bangalore) in Jun 2021

Interview

Applied for Java backend position. Interview consisted of 3 rounds. All three rounds were taken by vice presidents. First two rounds the questions asked were general software concepts and algo/ds. These two interviewers were serious enough for the interview. First two rounds went really good. I had bad luck with the third person. He was an older guy (but still at a beginner level designation). All the time he was busy checking his messages and doing some work on his laptop. I wonder if he was listening to my words at all. He was like 'ask a question' -> 'hmm', 'another question' -> 'hmm, hmmm'. lol. Dude, either you should take the interview or do your own work, don't mix things up. It is not fair to the candidate. He was asking knowledge based Java questions. Was not motivated enough to tell the complete question, then when I gave the answer, again 'hmmm'. Lastly he asked me to tell new features of Java 15. Lol dude, I'm not sitting idle at my home reading release notes of every new Java version that gets released, I told him politely that I can only answer for the Java version being used in my current organisation. At that moment he finished the interview with another 'hmm'. I felt sad having wasted time interviewing with these people.

Interview

Truly a disappointing experience from such a large company. The internal recruiter reached out to me. I wasn't really looking, but after talking to their recruiter for a little bit, I decided I'd like to move forward in the process. The process included a phone screen by the initial recruiter followed by 1.5 hours of (virtual) interviews with three members of the team in separate calls (30 mins each). The first two interviewers (one of which was the hiring manager) were very nice and even discussed pay and start date. The hiring manager closed by stating how excited he was to have me join their team. It all went south when I had the third and final interview. The person was easily the rudest person I've ever interviewed with, and it's not even close. He joined the call several minutes late and offered no apology or explanation for his tardiness. He didn't introduce himself and instead just started grilling me on basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I've been working with each of them for over 10 years and in the specific space for over 5, so it was all very straightforward (I'll include some of the questions below). I remained polite and friendly despite being extremely uncomfortable by his demeanor. I must have given an answer he didn't agree with because he stopped abruptly and said "I think I know all I need to know about you" and hung up the call without another word. Since I had such great conversations with the hiring manager and the other interviewer, I followed up with the internal recruiter after a week of silence. They ignored my email, so after three days I called and left a voicemail which was also ignored. I don't know what happened but the whole experience was extremely strange and off-putting.
