I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Jefferson Lab (Newport News, VA) in Oct 2023
Interview
This was the hardest, and harshest interview I've ever endured. Which I do understand, given the responsibility of this position. However, the technical knowledge of this interview process was not the issue. It was their absolute lack of professionalism. This was a year ago, but I felt it needs to be put out there, because this process was so uncomfortable.
I want to start out by saying Scott was amazing and very professional. His questions were straight forward and knowledge based. He genuinely wanted to get to know me and to see if I had what they needed for this position. He did not take part in making me feel uncomfortable.
I'll admit, I was very nervous for this interview. This was my first interview after serving the Navy for 15 years. Naturally, it was nerve racking from the get go.
While I was answering some questions, there were members of the interview who would mute their microphone. I'm not sure if they realized this, but they left their camera on. Anyway, I could visibly see them laughing at me as I answered their questions. This occurred throughout the duration of the interview, which was about an hour long. Which of course made me even more nervous, and I stumbled over my words even more.
I wanted to say, if you know I'm not a good fit. That's completely fine. End the interview. Don't continue to laugh at me and make the interview extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. Especially for a federal position. I felt very ridiculed.
I have passed on my interview experience with co-workers from the Navy who wished to apply at Jefferson, and this has turned them away from applying for other positions in other departments.
