I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Mazonai (London, England) in Jul 2015
Interview
I first had a phone interview which seemed promising. I spoke to a recruiter who told me about the job but told me little about how the recruitment process worked. After a short chat about my career goals I was quickly put through to a face-to-face interview arranged for the following day.
The face-to-face interview was very quick and informal, and there was not enough chance for me to talk about my skills and experience. I was told that the interview would be short and out of 30 candidates, only 8 would be accepted through to the next stage. The interviewer however was more interested in chatting about my personal background and then continuously talked as if to try and sell the job to me. It did not seem very professional to me, nor did it give a good indication of what the company was like.
Firstly thank you for taking the time to review Mazonai, we always welcome as much feedback as possible to help us improve our current practices.
I’m sorry you felt your overall experience with Mazonai was negative. As you mentioned, we were interviewing a large volume of candidates and unfortunately this means we have to keep interviews from over running on occasion. In regards to the topics discussed in your interview, at Mazonai we like to get to know our candidates personalities and interests in order to assess whether they would be a good fit for the business, this does mean that our interview questions do sometimes differ to that of a ‘traditional’ interview.
I wish you the best of luck in the future and thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
First interview at their office, it was very unprofessional that they kept all candidates waiting. I waited for about 30 minutes. The first interview was a very quick going-through-your-cv interview. Second interview would take a whole day, you would be invited to 'observe' their team and you would be asked to take notes and answer some questions.
My interviewer tried very hard to persuade me to join their team. Then I found out there is no base salary and 100% commission based so I did not take the offer.
Overall I found the company very unprofessional.
Thank you for your review of Mazonai, we appreciate your feedback.
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your interview experience, notably the observation day. This day is optional, and is included as part of the recruitment process to provide you an opportunity to see exactly what the work environment is like. Candidates are free to leave at any time if they feel the role isn’t well suited.
At Mazonai we believe it’s important to uphold a professional standard, but at the same time we also think it’s important to have fun in the workplace and encourage a culture of collaboration and team work. We’re sorry if this was different to what you were expecting and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
