Interviewed in August 2023 for a HR role. I was told the interview was scheduled with three members of the HR team. When I arrived I was told one of the three would not be attending as she was working from home, this was fine, albeit surely this would have been known ahead of time. The interview went really well and during the interview they all said that they would like to bring me back for a second and final stage, and the agent would be in contact. Unfortunately after this the agent from Fawkes and Reece gave me the run around for weeks, until I politely removed myself from the process. There were clearly games going on, perhaps there was an internal candidate or they offered someone else and were waiting to see if they accepted. Whatever the case may be, it was a poor showing from both the agent and McLaren especially for a HR role as we in HR should be representing the business and understand how candidates feel on the other side. What made this even more strange was when I received a call from Fawkes and Reece in January 2024 asking if I was still interested in the role. I imagine it did not work out with the other candidate and that is why they called me five months down the line. I did not receive any apology or feedback or information as to what happened. I politely declined the offer to go through that again. I couldnt imagine even entering into a conversation with McLaren again after they had shown me what their culture was like throughout the process and how the treat potential employees. A really dire experience.
