      Data Solutions Architect Interview

      3 Dec 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Dallas, TX) in Oct 2015

      Interview

TLDR: Microsoft flew me in and paid for my hotel, had positive feedback in person, but never got ANY FORM OF COMMUNICATION AFTERWARDS for over 5 weeks. ATTEMPTS AT CONTACTING RECRUITERS HAVE RESULTED IN NOTHING. No rejection email or phone call, no anything. I was contacted by a recruiter, and after two phone interviews, was flown into Dallas for an in-person interview. The person I was supposed to meet didn't attend due to heavy rain, and I ended up being interviewed by 3 different people (1 who called me and interviewed over the phone). I received positive feedback from all 3 interviewers, and was told I could expect to hear back in 5 to 10 business days. Microsoft PAID for my flight and hotel. As of now, 5 weeks later, I have received zero feedback from anyone at the company. My attempts at emailing have typically resulted in no response, except for the fact that the original recruiter is no longer with his staffing company and I was dumped onto someone else. I am furious that I took valuable time away from my family to travel to an in-person interview and not have the courtesy of a single phone call or email communication from anyone at the company. I'm pretty sure I would have gotten an offer if somebody at the company didn't completely screw up, but instead I've received zero communication. I'm blown away by the lack of professionalism and courtesy by Microsoft for not having the decency to follow up with candidates at all. My time is my most valuable commodity, and I will never trust Microsoft with it again. I'm a cloud technology and data expert, and Microsoft wanted me to help them with supporting Azure clients. I was abundantly qualified to do so, and if they ever contact me again I will absolutely not waste my time with them. I'm thankful that I received an offer from a competitor, but regret that I delayed my acceptance while waiting for Microsoft to contact me.
