I interviewed at Occidental Petroleum (Houston, TX) in May 2013
Interview
I applied through the company website. I was contacted by a recruiter about completing an online assessment over Access 2003 and Excel 2007. The Excel portion involved working with the actual program while the Access portion involved coding.
I passed the initial assessment and was brought in for an in-house assessment over the 2007 versions of both programs. This lasted two hours, and I passed it as well.
I was then asked to come in two weeks later for an interview. I met with two reservoir engineers, another engineering tech, and a woman from HR who went over benefits with me. Since then I have been strung along and not given any idea what the company is doing.
I would not consider the company again in the future as it appears to be nothing more than a waste of time.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Occidental Petroleum (Houston, TX) in May 2015
Interview
Applied online, HR sent Analytical and Excel assessment after 1 week. Both are pretty easy. For Excel test, you can go to YouTube, there is a tutorial video called ProveIt Excel assessment test. About 1 week later, HR called and asked few questions like what do you do, why you want to leave, salary,, benefit etc. Then HR set up an interview with engineering team in another 1 week. I had 2 interview in 1 day because they having 2 engineering team working on same project, both are looking for 2 Eng Tech candidates, it was a panel interview where there were 2 Eng Tech, 3 Eng, 2 Eng lead, and 1 IT. Total 8 divided into 2 group
