This was a three-interview process: the first with HR, the second with the hiring manager, and the third with the division director. The first interview with HR was just a screening, but the recruiter was late and then tried to gaslight me about the timing and my internet connection.
The second interview with the hiring manager lasted an hour. In 2025, it’s hard to understand why someone would refuse to turn on their camera, especially with the excuse that they didn’t want their reactions to influence my performance. It’s awkward talking to a black screen for an hour, and it felt disrespectful to someone who took the time to prepare for the process. On top of that, it seemed like the hiring manager hadn’t prepared or even looked at my resume, since he ended up criticizing my educational background.
When I was notified that I wouldn’t be continuing in the process, I reached out for feedback, but, as usual, received no response. Unfortunately, this seems to happen more often when the hiring manager is South Asian and you are not. It feels like an automatic rejection, especially at OpenText. And let's not even talk about the salary—$70K to $90K for a senior position is low compared to the market, especially when you’re expected to work more than 8 hours.
