There were 3 interviews with lots of email contact in between. All 3 went very well. One downside was that at the end of the 2nd interview, I somehow got the idea that the 3rd talk would just be a formality. It was never described as an "interview" but just a chance to meet the team and chat. It felt like a “Let me show you around the office,” move that you would only see if there was going to be a job offer. So, I didn't really treat the 3rd interview as an interview, when I probably should have.
The interviews were a little on the long side, and were all conducted remotely by teleconference. The people were very friendly and I enjoyed talking with them.
The questions asked were specific to the job duties listed, and focused on asking me to explain my prior experience as it related to the job duties.
About 2 weeks after the 3rd interview, I received an email stating that the position had been filled. It turns out they hired internally. Felt frustrated that hey had not yet considered internal applicants before interviewing external ones.
Another thing I learned is that people in this role that may be a bit unusual for the compliance field is that this role woudl spend a massive amount of time in meetings, such as 20 or more hours per week devoted to teleconference sessions, standups, etc. , in addition to other daily duties.
