Proximity Project Manager interview questions

I was brought for an interview at their offices located in Cincinnati. I had three on-site interviews with teams of two. 30 minutes each and then one more phone interview later they day with someone in Chicago (45 minutes) Another phone interview was scheduled for a week and a half later with another higher up. Day off the next phone interview, I get a cancellation email and an inquiry if I would like to "freelance" with them. So, after all of that, I'm good enough to work for the company, but they don't want to pay full time and benefits? No thank you. This company should be advertising this position for what it is. This job is still being advertised months later, which tells me this a bait and switch. Don't waste your time.
