      Administrative Assistant Interview

      24 Oct 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at REI in Mar 2011

      Interview

This was such a strange interview because it basically started with the recruiter asking me what I thought this job entailed. I was a little thrown off but basically spoke through the job description. It was a bit of a guessing game, and I'm sure I sounded less than 100% confident. As much as I love the company, I was less than impressed with their process.

      Administrative Assistant Interview

      20 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kent, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at REI (Kent, WA)

      Interview

Very informal process here. Like previous reviewer, I was also asked to do a video recording without any kind of communication with the recruiter. I did not feel comfortable with this process and asked the recruiter if we could do a Zoom/WebEx interview. The recruiter agreed and said she would follow up after her PTO. During her PTO she put my application under No Longer Under Consideration. I found out by logging on their website. Recruiter never sent an email or explanation. The process says a lot of about the time and respect they give to candidates and employees.

      Administrative Assistant Interview

      7 Dec 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sumner, WA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at REI (Sumner, WA) in Oct 2010

      Interview

HR emailed to set up a time for a phone interview and it took a week after that before I heard if they were interested in a one on one interview. I was contacted by a senior admin to set up the interview which turned out to be a panel interview. The interview went well until a question was asked about a skill that was not listed in the job description at all which turned out to be the deciding factor on the position. Two weeks went by and I did not hear anything about the position until I receive an Outlook appointment titled "AA Feedback". At that point it was obvious I was not going to be offered the position. The usual protocol when notifiying an applicant that they did not qualify for the position is a phone call at which time the applicant has the opportunity to ask for feedback. Feedback is never given without an applicant's request. The phone appointment did not take place until later that afternoon which made it difficult to concentrate on the current workload. When the manager called, he was very harsh and made me thankful that they didn't offer me the position.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All questions were standard interview questions and easy to answer. The only question that took me by surprise was did I have experience in a skill that was not listed anywhere in the job description.
