I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Realogy (Madison, NJ) in Aug 2017
Interview
Started with a Skype interview for one position and was told they really liked me and that I would actually be a better fit for another, higher-up position. After a few weeks of not hearing anything, I got an email with an automated survey about my experience. Assuming this meant I was rejected, I followed up with the recruiter and was told "Yeah. We filled that position. But the manager did like you, so apply to this position."
After a month of following up and but receiving no updates, I was contacted about flying up for an interview. It took another two weeks to set up this interview, and then I flew up and spent the day meeting with various managers and executives. It went very well and was a positive experience, and I spent a few hours the next day completing an assignment given to me by the hiring manager and following up individually with each of the six people I met with the day before.
I followed up about a week later to see if there was an update and was told the team was finishing up with some final round interviews. I did the same a week later and was told the same thing. After two more weeks of no news, I followed up again but did not hear back. The recruiter, who likely got frustrated with the length of the process and was interested in getting her commission elsewhere, stopped replying to me. I assumed that I was yet again being rejected without being contacted.
However, two weeks later, the recruiter contacted me again to say "No news yet but the team is hoping to make a decision on offers soon."
After a few more weeks of not hearing anything came the grand finale: an email message from the recruiter informing me the team had hired an internal candidate. So, after a few months of back and forth, they decided to fill the position internally. Why you would spend so much time interviewing and opening up the position to external candidates when you are just going to fill the position internally, I will never know. But, that is apparently how they choose to operate and spend their time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why are you leaving your current job, and why are you interested in this position?
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Realogy (Parsippany, NJ) in Nov 2009
Interview
I was hooked up through a head hunter who works closely with the hiring manager. After that first interview, I drove out to meeting the hiring manager. He seemed a decent fellow who gave me a fair interview. I didn't have any experience in the real estate industry so I understand his not offering me a job. No complaints. Nice facility they have out there.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Realogy (Morristown, NJ) in May 2008
Interview
Recruiter set it up. One hour interview. They had a very pretty complex. The interviewer was pleasant enough and fair. I didn't have experience in real estate so that sort of doomed me I think. It was a while back so I can't quite remember more than that.
