      Production Interview

      2 Dec 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Wasilla, AK
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Savers (Wasilla, AK) in Dec 2022

      Interview

I applied online and was subsequently sent an e-mail asking me to call the local store to schedule my interview. The interview was scheduled 3 days later. When I arrived, I was asked three separate times, with whom was I interviewing? I answered the same each time, "When I asked who I should ask for when I got here for my interview, I was told it was irrelevant and that a member of management would know what to do. I was told I should just tell any team member at the front of the store that I'm here for my interview." The gal up front and I had a pleasant conversation about her Darth Vader Christmas sweater. I thought the interview went well, it was simple enough, and was told that they had other interviews but that I would hear back from them by the end of the day. However, I heard back from no one. I called about 20 minutes after the opening of business hours and was told, "Oh, sorry for not getting back to you. Our computers were down last night. But we have decided to go with another candidate." I asked, "Is there something I could have done differently, or would it make a difference if I were to submit an application for the front end of the store? Perhaps it was my availability." She responded, "Yes, I'm sorry but we've already offered the position to somebody else." I feel like she was evading my questions, or me entirely - and I definitely got the feeling she was uncomfortable letting candidates down. If their computers were truly down, how was the other candidate notified that they were hired? More importantly, why interview me at all if my availability was a deal breaker? If that wasn't the reason, why rob me of an opportunity to learn what I could have done differently? Very anti-climactic.
