Spoke with 2 people. They are apparently really into "luxury" brands and e-commerce, and the person I spoke to kept talking about how the luxury e-commerce experience was better than non-luxury experiences. But, this interviewer did not elaborate or explain what was meant by that in terms of how it was better.
They mentioned that they engage in location-based pricing, where people in one location are charged more than others as opposed to everyone just being charged the retail price of an item. The interviewer justified this practice in a condescending way, by stating that in Florida, for instance, people won't pay as much as they will in NYC because Florida shoppers are not as sophisticated. They were also really proud of their technology platform, so I asked them what type of platform they used. They said they used custom WordPress templates.
Ultimately, the job didn't seem all that hard and I got the impression that the person who left the position I was interviewing for quit because they were bored.
It wasn't really a hard interview, but I had personal issues with the condescending way they described themselves and others. I had ethical issues with their pricing practices. And, I don't think custom WordPress templates are anything to brag about.
