      Account Manager Interview

      16 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Venice, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at StackSocial (Venice, CA) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Initial phone interview pretty basic. A second phone interview a little more in depth about past experience. Had to complete an assignment with research/pitch to new partner. Third in person interview with tour that was very relaxed. Fourth interview in person with 4+ interviewers.

      Account Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at StackSocial in Feb 2015

      Interview

I went through 3 interviews within a week. There was also a piece of homework, with 5 questions about how to handle different client/customer questions. Not very difficult if you have relationship experience. 1st interview was with 1 person, head of department. 2nd interview was with 1 person (30 min) and then 2 people at once (30 min). They were in the current position I was applying for. 3rd interview was with 2 people, another higher-up in the company and the acting COO. Everyone was amazing, polite, and very down to Earth. They asked several times in different ways if I was ready for long hours and/or dedication to keep up with quotas. As expected in an account management role. It went very fast because they were hopeful to hire me, however, at the last moment they changed their minds. Which is fine, but do not be over expectant that they will hire you just because things seem to be okay.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

(Handwritten homework questions) 1. In your own words, pitch StackCommerce to us. 2. Come up with one publisher partner that StackCommerce should target and tell us why you think they would be a good target. Then find the appropriate contact at the target publisher and their email address. 3. StackCommerce has historically been heavy in the tech space. What category should StackCommerce target next and why? 4. We have a deal that's performing extremely well on our network. You suggest it to a publisher, but they don't like the deal and don't want to post it. How do you build a case to convince them to post the deal? 5. A publisher requires a lot of management of time and resources, but generates a small amount of revenue compared to your other accounts. What do you do? 6. A recent deal that launched has been performing very well for the publisher, but they have received a ton of customer complaints and negative feedback about the product (low quality, doesn’t work, etc). How do you handle this?
