From beginning to end, the process lasted several months. It was interrupted / challenged by COVID restrictions (not Tenneco's fault), personnel changes, and company executives changing their candidate expectations without notice and not revealing that until the very end (even as they had previously provided a full verbal offer and asked for my address to craft the written offer letter).
In addition to this late-breaking head fake, I passed on two different companies' outreach to interview out of respect/in deference to the Tenneco process and our mutually expressed enthusiasm to close a deal (and Tenneco knew this, as I wanted to be transparent and fair to all involved) - and then I missed out trying to chase down those two other opportunities as well. No good (professional courtesy) goes unpunished.
Missed opportunities and offers aside, I was excited about what I learned of the company, its leadership and its future. Unfortunately, its lasting impression with me is that of not feeling fairly treated.
