I applied online. I interviewed at Think Company (Philadelphia, PA) in Mar 2021
Interview
First round: 30 mn phone interview with hiring manager
Second round: 1.5 hr video interview with hiring manager and additional designers where you present your "Think Exercise" design project (they expect you to take about a week to complete this) as well as answer any questions related to your portfolio work or your work history.
Overall, the Think Exercise was a waste of time, especially if you're already employed and working on it outside of work. I understand why the company asks candidates to do this, but it also seems like an outdated practice and a way to get free work.

Question 1
How do you collaborate with the other roles on your teams?
Thank you for your feedback. We’re currently evolving our approach to Think Exercises and recruiting process so that we may provide options for candidates at all levels, from those just starting out to those who already have a deep and diverse portfolio. Additionally, those options will help to make this an even more equitable process for applicants from different backgrounds and life circumstances.
To date, we have found great success using the Think Exercise as a way of leveling the playing field for candidates whose existing portfolio pieces may not fully showcase a given skillset or ability required for a role. Additionally, we always use fictional prompts for the Think Exercise; resulting work is purely for evaluative purposes and never used in any existing client or internal work.
