      Consultant Interview

      6 Mar 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Thoughtworks in Nov 2010

      Interview

Despite having an incredible office space and what seems to be a great environment (you get the feeling as soon as you walk into the office, and the way they talk you into it works too) it's incredible how the company doesn't care about you once they decide they are not worth it. Worst part? You have no idea why you are not eligible. I heard about the company at my college's career fair, and the idea of a company that blends modern working techniques, IT and consulting appealed to me. The centralized location was a major bonus, and getting more into the details of the company made it a perfect candidate. The whole process starts the usual way: get them interested in your resume, have them call you over for a detailed explanation and personal assessment. Once you complete a short form and a Predictive Index survey, they call you over for the 3 hour assessment, where they give you a detailed insight about their company. The presentation and assessment are done in a group environment. I have to take the assessment to another paragraph. This is not to boast but to help anyone try to understand the hiring process. The assessment is made of 2 parts: express and logic assessment. As it has been a long time past the interview, I can't exactly remember the whole process, but express is something along the lines of 50 questions in 50 minutes, and the logic assessment is a bit more detailed flowchart style logic assessment. You are given 2 hours (it only took me 1 hour while everyone else hardly made it in time.. and I double checked everything, meaning I resolved all the questions, so it should tell you how easy it was) Once you pass that, you are sent an email with a bit more technical logic problems. If you are good with those questions too, you are given a problem where you need to submit real code. Mind this, all the questions are extremely easy, beginner level problems. Here is where the problem occurred. Even though everything (I mean everything, because I was so obsessed with this company that I even met with my professor to double check everything) was perfect and working, I never heard from the company again. After a while I sent them an email and got no response, and finally I gave up and called. It was the same lady I had been in touch for the past 2 months, and she sounded extremely displeased to hear back from me, just told me that I didn't make it and hung up, and despite my effort to get in touch again, never heard back. So, you might think you are a perfect candidate, you can outsmart anyone, but don't get your hopes up to ever hear back from the company because apparently they are far from being professional in their hiring process. Just do whatever they give you, but definitely invest in other companies.

Nothing.. absolutely nothing you won't find in any textbook. Attend a highschool class and you will find more challenging questions.

      Interview

The interview process was so good such that I did not feel like I am being interviewed. It was like I was in a project discussion and getting asked to explain all the aspects of the project.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (London, England) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Recruiter screen - general chat 30 mins, recruiter was lovely and informative, then more in-depth technical screen 1 hour, info sent in advance. Not sure on full process as no offer given. Not the best experience, interviewer seemed distracted and uninterested, felt it was a rejection as soon as I joined the call, interviewer often said 'I wasn't looking at your screen', in quite an aggressive tone. Left a really bad taste in my mouth, to the point where I probably would think twice about using their services, if ever in the position to.
