I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (Denver, CO) in Apr 2014
Interview
The process was a bit confusing and nerve-wracking, at first. The phone interview was very efficient. I answered 4-5 questions about why I wanted to work as a tutor (basic interview questions). The skype interview was something different, but went well. I had to explain each question to her like I was teaching a student. It took about a week to get hired once the interview and the paperwork was completed. Then took about 3 days to receive my first client. The application was easy to fill out and I received a response within 5 business days.

Question 1
The question was about explaining the change of a line using calculus. The line described the 2nd derivative and I had to explain the change between two points according to the 1st derivative.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in Feb 2018
Interview
The interview was very straightforward including a series of video interviews where you record yourself answering a couple questions asking to detail qualifications and reasons for getting hired, and a set of questions toward the end of the interview that asked you to explain certain problems from subject areas of your choice.

I applied online. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (Lancaster, PA) in Oct 2017
Interview
Varsity Tutors has a basic Online Application. They are eager for more tutors and answer quickly. An agent set up a phone interview and called me. It was quite an easy process. From there, Varsity Tutors has Skills Tests for tutors to take. For each Skills Test you pass, you are approved to teach that subject.

I applied online. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors (Fairfax, VA) in Jun 2017
Interview
I am giving the interview process a thumbs down because, I never actually talked to a human being during the entire process. I literally put on a suit and talked to my laptop. I had to record my answers to interview questions on a platform called Hire View. You are given practice questions to get used to the platform. However, once you are ready to record your actual interview you only have one shot at recording your answer.
