I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Verafin (St. John's, NL) in Aug 2024
Interview
I first had a phone screen call with NASDAQ recruiters based in the US. It was a pleasant and friendly conversation primarily centered around my CV and discussing how my qualifications align with the job requirements. About a week later, I was invited for a technical interview at Verafin in St. John's, conducted by two senior software developer directors. The interview was engaging, with a few technical questions related to my CV and its relevance to the job position. The majority of the discussion focused on situational and behavioral questions that reflected the core values of Verafin. Overall, it was a positive experience.
had a 15 minute interview with HR, they were nice and asked questions about myself and my resume. asked about my previous work experiences and the projects on my resume and to describe them
3 rounds in total, with a technical coding assessment, and the process took over 2 months which was the longest hiring process I have ever experienced.
The overall experience I would say was not ideal but I can understand since they are a growing company with expanding business and hiring demands.
i applied and heard back about 3 weeks later. the phone screening is very casual, just asking about prior experience and tools/technologies used. a week later, i got invited to a technical interview which was a deeper dive into my previous work/project experience.
during this interview we went into a lot of detail regarding specific experience and responsibilities in my previous roles, and talked about my experience with the tech on the job description. it is a very casual and laidback interview, more of a conversation focused around specific details regarding your technical ability (not necessarily "what does x mean in y language?" but more so "why did you choose to use x technology in your project over y'). it is much more about cultural fit so do your research and understand WHY verafin is a great company.
about 2 weeks later, i received an offer.
