I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Wakeflow Ltd. in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview process started off well. The first two stages were straightforward: a 5-minute multiple-choice coding quiz followed by a relatively quick coding task. However, things took a disappointing turn during the third stage—a screening call with the company’s CEO.
The CEO joined the call quite late (though he did apologize) and came across as surprisingly indifferent throughout. At one point, he even yawned while I was speaking. What was supposed to be a 30-minute informal conversation ended up lasting barely 15 minutes, with only a few generic questions asked.
When he asked me to showcase some of my work, I explained that most of it is either non-public or under NDA. This seemed to abruptly end the interview, which struck me as unusual.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially after the positive start.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Do you have a portfolio or something I can look at
I'm sorry you feel the interview didn't go well. On the initial call we try to figure out whether what you're looking for and what we're looking for is a good match. It is always meant to last only 15min. I think the 30min Calendly option was misleading here.
Apologies if I yawned, it must have been a hectic day. The question about showcasing your work just happens to be the last question. It doesn't mean that not having something public is a show stopper.
In the end we have a lot of interviews which we review and then select the strongest candidates for the next round. In our recent round of hiring only 21 of the 51 candidates that took that interview were taken through to the next round.
I hope that helps explain.
All the best,
Andi, the CEO
