Where would you recommend the property focus its [paid search] budget and efforts?

I found this question unusual, only after-the-fact, because it turned out that the eCommerce Manager role had no influence, whatsoever, over paid search budgets or efforts for any of the hotels. There was a separate team for that. Therefore, why didn't they ask me a question that was more akin to what I'd be doing in my role? The question actually (mis)led me to believe I'd be responsible for online marketing strategy, hence my rockstar presentation deck.
