I had answers of all.

Hello, I am a FB employee and I have created an interview prep guide for Facebook interviews, based on my and my colleagues' recent interview experiences. The guide has questions you should expect along with our answers that got us into Facebook. You can find it here: interviewjoy.com/services/interview-process-details/facebook-manager-job-interview-questions-answers-more/ (please do not forget to also look at the reviews at the bottom of that page). Thanks and good luck! Less

Through questions like this, interviewers are mostly trying to test your skillset (and its relevance to the role) as robustly as possible, so be prepared for multiple offshoots and followups. It could be a useful exercise to do mocks with friends or colleagues in Cruise to get a real sense of what the interview is actually like. Alternatively Prepfully has a ton of Cruise Software Engineering Manager experts who provide mock interviews for a pretty reasonable amount. prepfully.com/practice-interviews Less

What will you do if the client asked for more features and you are already behind schedule

1 Answers

If they ask for more features beyond what's in the agreed upon contract SOW and requirements, then you'll have to renegotiate the project cost and schedule. As for you being currently behind schedule, you always have to manage your customer/stakeholder expectations. They should know you are behind schedule, what your doing to get back on track, or why getting back on track is not possible. Less

What ever applies to your situation, just explain it.

The key in generic questions like this, is to make sure to cover the fundamentals. There's usually a back-and-forth with the interviewer. Do you need to feel valued for the work you've done?

2 Answers

Nuanced answer - day to day then not at all, and I don't exactly have a monstrous ego that needs constant fuelling, however I wouldn't wish to work in an environment where nobody is appreciated, and like any human then the odd bit of recognition is always nice. In some cases, I'd actively pass the credit on to others, as it may be important in their development, so I'd be happy in myself, simply knowing I'd done the right thing, and seeing the business improve. Oh, sorry, it seems I can't actually explain my answer, I need to pick a number from 1-10. Um, 6? Less

How do you approach mentoring?

2 Answers

I didn't have a solid answer here, and it tripped me up a little bit. It's a subject which is a little weak for me, so I relied on anecdotes from some of my first jobs where I was pseudo-responsible for junior developers. Less

Set expectations about how mentoring will work, frequency of meetings and general rules of engagement Work with the mentee (and possibly their manager) on any high level goals that we should work on during the mentoring relationship Lets the mentee drive the conversations but keep the general goals in mind Give them feedback and guidance, but avoid telling them what to do. Be accountable for the things you commit to with the mentor. Hold the mentor accountable for the things they commit to. Less

Thank-you for taking time to share your experience. While it is not what we are used to hearing, we would certainly like to understand more of what occurred. Should you be interested, I would be happy to spend time with you to learn more. In either case, we are sorry that your personal interactions did not meet our normally high standard of care. Less

Stephen Wells, If I give out the details, I may be blacklisted forever. The process is extremely slow. The recruiter is not transparent and the hiring manager did not know how to handle the situation. All I can say is, candidate experience is equally important for a company to attract the right talent. Not only should Myriad promote people within the organization, but strive to bring in people from different industry background to give a fresh perspective on process, culture, experience, diversity and more to have a holistic understanding of running a team and business. If you want to hire the best and right talent, pay more and do not be stingy like the company is right now. If you want talent to be stellar, then you pay them stellar salary too. Less
