Remember your resources: other coaches you know, your AD or your Dean. You need to have built these relationships before the "X" ever happens. Mostly I've been told that I'm not qualified enough or in rare occasions that I'm overqualified for what they could offer. (This is the instance that the interviewer thought it appropriate to tell me that the companies just didn't like me.) Less

If you had a student call you panicking that they need to drop their classes because they have work and their family taking up their time, what would you tell them?

I would ask the student to first take a deep breath and let's go through their days to see if there isn't a way we can find just little gaps in time for them to do schoolwork. I would also remind them of their goals and the fact that they are capable of reaching them and I'm here to help. Less
