I have been working at Avaloq full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people with a good culture. A range of technologies old and new are explored to some depth. Opertunity to work on cutting edge microservices architectures and frameworks.

    Cons

Communication between high level management and teams is often incoherent/superficial. There are huge risks related to the transition from legacy systems to microservices at a fast pace.

    Advice to Management

Find more people with broad confident beleivable visions of what they can achieve and give them more resources and a mandate to do it.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Avaloq (Singapore) in April 2018.

    Interview

I was asked if I was open to rotating around different teams. The politically correct answer to give in an interview is yes and that was what I said. I told the interviewer that I am willing to learn new things if given the opportunity to be rotated.

However, at the end of the interview, I was told or rather criticized for not having a clear goal for my career because I just wanted to join the banking industry regardless of the position. I clarified that I came for an interview with the Pricing team and did not know about the possibility of rotation at all. Since it was mentioned, I just demonstrated my desire to learn by saying yes. Honestly, I have no idea how does this equate to someone not having a clear goal.

If a person's goal is to work in X, does it mean he only applies to X jobs for the rest of his life?
