I worked at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great tax experience and worked from home quite often.

    Cons

Very depressing environment, very robotic, very tight workspaces (workspaces in accounting used to be much better); very little time off, weekend work and long hours expected. Large accounting firms are outsourcing work at an accelerated rate to India and other countries where salary expectations are much lower, thus the worsening working conditions in the US.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG in March 2013.

    Interview

Summer Tax internship Application. Phone interview comes after verbal and analytical reasoning test.
Phone interview was the only round of interview unless the HR personnel recommends you for other specific department like Transfer Pricing (TP)
Phone interview is a positive experience. Talk about school work and also a simple tax scenario. No absolutely right answer, just give your interpretation based on tax rules.

    Interview Questions

    • Tax scenarios. Hypothetical involving a business. Give tax interpretation such as capital allowances claimed etc.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

    none
