Description PacketVideo believes that multimedia should be streamed, not wired. The company develops software that transmits video and other digital media over wireless networks to devices such as handheld computers, mobile phones, and laptops. Its software encodes, transmits, and decodes memory-intensive media, and is compatible with a variety of wireless standards. PacketVideo software is embedded in more than 300 different devices. Customers include such heavy hitters as Cisco, HP, Nokia, Panasonic, SANYO, and Samsung Electronics. Founded in 1998, PacketVideo is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo, which bought the company in 2010 from NextWave Wireless.
