Great technology, poor business prospects

Great technology, product of two top US universities, now owned by China :-(

Cons

Business prospects still unclear, 9 nears since the company was founded. Chinese owner, Hanergy Thin Films, in dire financial position; not sure how long they'll fund this expensive Silicon Valley based operations. Do your research before accepting an employment offer.

Pros

Excellent benefits and colleagues are friendly. Safety is number one at this company. Good compensation for a start up, but you do have to earn it - it is a start up after all. I enjoyed my time here and was sorry to be laid off.

Cons

Too many VPs for such a small company. Stressful environment for mid-level engineers and managers.

Pros

The technology is very interesting. Salaray is ok but not much else. Some free lunch and snacks. Used to be better during early days. Work life balance okay because business was slow. During earlier times, always have 'lunch' meeting everyday.

Cons

Organization structure is not clear. Ownership is not clear. Always changing plan and can't decide. There is so much politics for such a small company. Lack of teamwork. People believe senior management just take care of themselves not the working people.
