Pros

They give you a nice computer to use...but you have to lug the 9 pound object with you everywhere as you can't leave your stuff in the office overnight.

Cons

- When offered the position, I negotiated to work remotely. They wanted me to work in Denver, and offered me a $20,000 increase in salary to work in Denver if I moved during the first three months. Two weeks after starting the job, while we were under contract to buy a house in Denver, they rescinded the offer. - After two weeks of working for the new company in a completely new field, I was told that I was performing poorly. When I asked what tasks I had performed poorly on, my manager could not name any. He just said that I wasn't working hard enough. - In the interview, I made no attempt to hide the fact that I didn't have experience and only had limited expertise in the area they wanted me to work on. They offered me a position regardless, and proceeded to fire me after three weeks for not having the right skillset / expertise for the position. - Three days into my job, I was asked by my manager to host an on-site interview with another candidate. My manager was frequently interviewing other candidates, but stated to me that he had no intention to hire them; he just wanted to "see what was out there". - Cramped noisy office space with hardly any elbow room at the desks. Not for introverts and people who need space!

Pros

Friendly Team Flexibility of tech stack Flexible vacation time Challenging problems Great location and workspace (in the Industry building on Brighton)

Cons

Convoluted systems deep in tech debt that could be easily fixed and simplified if they didn't spend so much time on new products/features that potentially drive revenue.

Pros

I have thoroughly enjoyed working for this company so far, and I plan on staying as long as possible. I was hired on as a full-stack junior software engineer - the first female on the engineering team - and was immediately inundated with new information. There is very much a culture here of "if you don't know how to do it, go figure it out." I walked in knowing one language and now actively work in three, plus several different frameworks (both front-end and back-end). The main benefit of this culture, though, is that you constantly get to take on and own new projects. If you want to build something that will benefit the business, just do it. And if you want to training in something new then management is very supportive - for example, I wanted to take a UX design course, and they paid for it without hesitation. I'm also in the process of learning PHP, and the CTO immediately told me that they would cover any resources I need to progress. The central idea is that they only hire people who are passionate about what they do and will take initiative to grow both the business and their professional skill set. As for the male-to-female ratio on the team, we recently hired another female engineer, so we're up to two out of a dozen or so. The overall ratio in the business is about half and half with at least one woman in a management role. I have never received any special treatment, or felt like I was any less valuable to the team for being a woman, ever. They hired me because I was qualified and a good fit for the team. Don't go into an interview with this company expecting anything different. Other than that, the benefits are designed to keep you happily employed, including great insurance plans and very generous PTO. The culture is very startup-y in that the hours are flexible and we get the company together to do fun things often. And I'm not sure what the other reviewer was referring to about elbow room, but we have a brand new office with lots of space and a consistent supply of snacks. Overall I love working here and would recommend applying to anyone.

Cons

The organizational structure here is very horizontal. While that's great for having personal access to upper management, if you're looking to "climb the ladder", it won't happen here. Also, if you're not prepared to put in startup-style effort, this isn't the place for you. Sometimes you'll have to put in long hours, there's no hand-holding, and there's zero room for "that's not my job." While there has been a shift towards having more defined teams and roles, you need to be prepared to take on many different kinds of projects, and bounce around as needed.
