Pros
Very filling job. Incredible coworkers and clients, for the most part, were inspiring to watch. True stories of survivors made the job a gift.
Cons
Job can also be stressful and at times discouraging. It is very much a "take the good with the bad", working with people in crisis. Pay, as is typical in non-profit, social services, is low. Upper management, at the time, was showing signs of burn-out, lacked empathy and could be unnecessarily harsh in communications. At one point an entire department (minus just a very few) exited. I believe said director is no longer in that role.
