Pros

35 hour work week. Nothing else is positive.

Cons

Attorneys are allowed to bully, insult, swear at and demean the support staff and associates. The old school mentality is alive and well at Bodman. You will often work under highly stressful conditions (mainly because you are NOT told many details of the assignment or matter and expected to get it done as fast as possible (or faster). The segregation between attorneys and staff is the worst I have seen at any firm. You will often have to put in extra hours but if it cannot be billed to a client, you will not be paid for your time. Files are disorganized and the computer system (and other equipment) is decrepit and breaks down often.

Pros

You are employed and get a steady paycheck and benefits.

Cons

Staff are second class citizens, Attorneys are allowed to treat the staff however they want and there are no consequences. Genuine hard work and dedication have no value here. If the attorneys you work for do not like you they will make it so horrible for you that you will find a way to leave the firm.

Bodman treats staff great ONE DAY OF THE YEAR. The other 364 are miserable.

Pros

They make administrative professionals day an event. Free flu shots and some small perks.

Cons

The lawyers treat staff like 'the help.' No socializing between staff and attorneys; attorneys do not treat staff like equals or with any real value. All are expendable and replaceable.
