      Great place to work!

      Pros

There are so many great things about working for Bread Financial, but number one is definitely the amount of opportunities we have for growth. We have open positions accessible to us at the click of a button and are encouraged to create a development plan to get us wherever we want to grow within the company. Our benefits are amazing. Bread Financial feels like a family, not a job. The compensation is wonderful and we get all of this while working from home. You can't beat it.

      Cons

I haven't experienced anything I would consider a "con". There are hard days, just like any other job, but the support you get from your supervisors and your peers combats that.

      Great WFH job

      Pros

I got my first WFH job with this company and I loved it so much I stayed for almost 5 years. If you’ve never worked from home before I highly recommend it. It’s truly a game changer, especially if you have a family or get social anxiety. BF offers a lot of WFH opportunities, which makes it a great company to work for if that’s something you’re prioritizing.

      Cons

It can be difficult to find a good work life balance at first if you’re new to working from home. It takes some adjustment and there’s also other differences to consider (you spend a lot more time on the computer obviously) so just keep that in mind.

That's a really great point and we appreciate you sharing that. We'll get that feedback over to our onboarding team as this could be an area for us to help our associates who are new to working remotely. We're glad you enjoyed it so much and that it was a fit for you (as it is for many of us!). Best of luck!

Didn’t keep to their word and then stopped valuing their employees

      Pros

      Good benefits and alright pay

      Cons

After training ends and you get tenured you stopped receiving help. No regular coaching. All the managers seem like they don’t care about you anymore. And they throw thing on you last minute. Oh and they made so much money last year but didn’t give many people raises not even some who stuck it out through the update. Like seriously if they did so great you would think they would at least value those who helped make that happen and stuck through the update. Even fast food gives annual raises

We are sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience after you went through the training program and became a fully functional collections representative. We know this work is not easy and that everyone needs some support themselves while they support our customers. Please consider reaching out to your supervisor or a peer to connect and discuss your concerns / gain perspective. Your concerns are valid and want to be able to assist you. You can also reach out to Spring Health for more intense resources or check out our Living Well on-demand resources on our Inview page.

      Pros

Their HR team and managers are top-notch. I always felt supported and knew that I had my company on my side on the occasions when I dealt with unhappy customers.

      Cons

Back to my first point: unhappy customers. Unfortunately, you’re going to be dealing with them so long as you’re in any sort of client-facing role. May as well learn how to redirect their negative energy.

      Bread Financial Response

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on having great support from leadership and HR. Handling negative energy is a really good way to say it -- to be successful in a customer-facing role you have to be tactful and graceful as you attempt to understand the customer's needs. We are so appreciative of our Care team as they help and support our customers.

      Pros

Upstanding, ethical organization that’s well organized, has a set list of procedures for any given situation, and helpful people who enjoy collaboration.

      Cons

With all the red tape that comes with big businesses like Bread, it can take forever for requests to be acknowledged or resolved. With that in mind, it was clear that higher ups worked to address requests as quickly as possible.

      Bread Financial Response

Thanks for the genuine review -- both the pros and cons. We appreciate you sharing that we're an ethical organization that is well organized -- we certainly try to be! There is some precautionary red tape in the regulated banking industry (for good reasons!) and with a large organization like ours, we realize that we prioritize getting it right over speed to solutions. Glad you're enjoying working here!

      Terrible management

      18 Jan 2023 - Associate

      Business Outlook

      Pros

I initially took the job due to the ability to work from home. The pays better than a lot of places in town and so are the benefits.

      Cons

Severely lacking in structure and functionality. The way they want things to operate vs how they actually operate are vastly different. You're not provided with all the tools to do your job to their standard, and when there's a system or IT issue you rarely get it resolved. There is a huge miscommunication issue between management and staff, and a lot of the time they omit important information. Getting sick is a challenge, they offer a limited amount of PSL but if you have to leave or take the day off without PSL you incur attendance points. You're ranked based off your calls and productivity, so when the phone lines are mixed up and calls come through that you shouldn't receive you have to transfer which negatively impacts your rating. Seems to be set up to reward those who disregard the customer's needs and hurts those who do our best to assist customera.

      Bread Financial Response

We're sorry to read that you've had a less-than-ideal experience joining our company. Glad that you love working from home and that you feel like the compensation and benefits are a strong incentive! We know no one loves to get sick and totally understand that it can throw your routine into chaos. We provide generous Paid Sick Leave Plus (PSL+) to ensure our non-exempt associates have the paid time off to get healthy and take care of themselves! We encourage you to provide feedback on your experience with your supervisor. If you have unresolved issues, we encourage you to reach out to People Center (HR) for support.

Terrible place to work, Leadership is full of liars!

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Was a good place to work, till Ralph took over. Now it's nothing but over work and eventual lay offs. Current IT employees are over worked and Those being let go were lied too directly.

      Cons

Leadership is very new york and inside based. If you're not on the inside of that, you're job is in jeopardy.

Benefits need some work to be competitive

      2 Dec 2022 - Customer Care Representative
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Day 1 benefits, pay, and team culture

      Cons

Maternity leave and Parental leave are severely lacking and outdated with only 6 weeks at 100% pay. All their competitors offer 18 to 20+ weeks at 100% pay. Only 6 weeks offered, after giving birth, is not competitive at all. We need lower bi-weekly premiums for the PPO plan and a much lower OOP maximum on all 3 plans offered - not competitive with their competitors. It’s a 2k OOP maximum for the PPO plans with competitors. All the OOP maximums are very high!!! 4K to 8k + for just employee is way too much! Extra sick day to 80 hours a year & a personal day to use to be comparable to what other banks offer. More vacation time and the option to buy an extra week. Other banks start their new employees at 3 weeks off for PTO and offer the option to buy a week at annual enrollment. Vision - Frames every 24 months, should be changed to every year to be competitive. All their competitors have a yearly frames allotment. Long term care insurance options should be offered. Child care $$$$ Child care plus program - Their competitors are offering employees a $250 to $275 monthly child care reimbursement, per child. A monthly contribution to employees student loans would be a nice benefit to offer. Another volunteer day. Other banks offer 16 hours of paid volunteer time.

Thanks for your feedback on our benefits. We've shared your feedback with our Benefits Team leaders so they have visibility to your specific areas of concern. We are proud to offer Parental Leave to new parents (both mothers and fathers) for the purpose of bonding with a newborn, newly adopted child, or long-term foster care child in his or her legal custody. We've made lots of improvements to our benefit offerings this year, which includes introducing new benefits and expanding others to help our associates care for their total wellbeing and to help our company attract and retain top talent. FUN FACT: Bread Financial pays approximately 82% of the total cost of the associate's health insurance policy premium and only passes along 18% of the cost to the associate. That's a pretty good split in cost for the associate!
